Rarissimo esemplare di Rolex ref. 8206!
Questa misteriosa (e inusuale per Rolex) referenza è stata verosimilmente prodotta tra il 1949 e il 1952 in 37pezzi in oro giallo e 37 pezzi in oro rosa.
Il soprannome “Gabus” pare essere riconducibile ai due fratelli Gabus, proprietari dal 1940 della fabbrica “Gabus Frerès SA” a cui Rolex si affidava per la creazione della casse di questa referenza.
Ma c’è un ulteriore caratteristica che rende ancora più raro questo meraviglioso orologio! Solo 11 altri esemplari di Rolex Ref.8206 sono apparsi pubblicamente in asta dal 1992 ad oggi; di questi, solo 3 presentano una designazione del tachimetro “BASE 1 MILE” corrispondente al lotto qui offerto, mentre i restanti utilizzano “BASE 1000”!
La cassa “Carré-Galbé” con anse scanalate, il movimento Valjoux 69, gli indici a triangolo e le lancette Alfa sono le inconfondibile caratteristiche di questa speciale referenza!

Very rare example of Rolex ref. 8206!
This mysterious (and unusual for Rolex) reference was likely produced between 1949 and 1952 in 37 pieces in yellow gold and 37 pieces in rose gold.
The nickname “Gabus” seems to be attributable to the two Gabus brothers, owners since 1940 of the “Gabus Frerès SA” factory that Rolex relied on to create the cases for this reference.
But there is an additional feature that makes this wonderful watch even rarer! Only 11 other examples of Rolex Ref.8206 have appeared publicly at auction since 1992, of those, only 3 feature a BASE 1 MILE tachometer designation matching the lot offered here, the remaining using BASE 1000
The “Carré-Galbé” case with fluted lugs, Valjoux 69 movement, triangle markers and Alfa hands are the unmistakable features of this special reference!
