Very rare Patek Philippe Calatrava in 18kt yellow gold, reference 2526, from 1955. Introduced in 1952, the iconic reference 2526 represents the first major innovation at Patek Philippe, it is in fact equipped with the first automatic movement, the very famous 12-600 caliber. To crown the launch of its first automatic watch, Patek opted for the creation of an enamel dial of an inimitable creamy white on a silver base. At the time, the creation of these enamel dials (combined with the need to pierce the delicate surface, so as to apply the indexes) led to a proportion of about 9 pieces out of 10 to be discarded. To overcome the difficulty in making it, Patek later decided that the indices would simply be glued. This has resulted in the classification of these dials in First series or Mark I (i.e. with applied indexes) and Second series or Mark II (glued indexes), with collectors particularly craving the first type of dials of which this beautiful specimen is provided! The watch is in excellent condition and comes with an Extract from the Patek Philippe Archives and one year our warranty on the mechanism. Shipping worldwide with Fedex insured courier in 24/48 hrs.
