The Seamaster PloProf 600 was conceived in 1967 but didn’t hit the market until 1971, remained in production until the end of the 70s.
Its distinctive monoblock case, designed to resist extreme water pressure, has made the Ploprof a legend among collectors. Particularly characteristic features include the crown mechanism protected on the sides and the brightly coloured safety slider that locks the rotating bezel. These functions were revolutionary in their day and remain a fascinating testament to Omega's innovative strength.
Inside, it is powered by a robust Omega automatic movement cal.1002, renowned for its durability and precision. Combined with impressive water resistance to 600 metres – giving it its name ‘Plongeur Professionnel’ – this watch impressively proves that it was designed for serious professional use.
This model belongs to the first generation when depth was only indicated in metres; only later did the dual metres/feet measurement appear.
The dial is the Mk2, produced in 1972.
It was used for its intended purpose, which is why it underwent factory servicing in 2010.
The beautiful 1266/237 ‘Mesh’ bracelet completes this piece of history.
